About The Rookery
Chicago, IL, May 3rd, 2016– Chef Michael Dean Reynolds (Brass Monkey/Bread & Wine) along with Amy Teri (Darkroom), and Chrsi Montgomery have teamed up to conceive The Rookery located at 2109 W. Chicago Ave, and will be opening its doors to the public on Thursday May 5th, 2016.
A Rookery, by definition, is a gathering place for gregarious birds or mammals, which symbolizes the goal that The Rookery will present a comfortable and convivial space, while executing expertly crafted food and drinks at affordable and friendly prices. The partners have collaborated with Siren Betty Design on the interior which was inspired by the artwork of John James Audubon. The result is a rich and playful habitat with a vintage vibe utilizing found objects and modern finds.
Smoked, pickled, roasted, and fermented items are familiar themes throughout Rookery’s casual New American inspired dinner menu appealing to all tastes with a variety of snacks, salads, and entrees. Along with plans for lunch and brunch, there will be themed daily specials throughout the week as well.
The bar program, managed by Kate Smith, promises to be approachable and highly drinkable with an overall dedication to locally and regionally sourced spirits and beers that drive the cocktail and draft lists. The wine selections will be curated by renowned Chicago Sommelier, Shebnem Ince, and are firmly rooted in the European tradition. The list, which will be offered only by the glass, features both classic benchmarks as well as “renegade” wines born out of the natural wine movement.
